As you maybe noticed on your Twitter time line or anywhere else, there has started a tiny planet madness! Anyone who owns Lumia device has probably tried it out already and when I saw Dávid Detkó posting his first tiny planet on Instagram I couldn't resist of downloading this application myself!
As developer of this application says and I quote:
Tiny Planets PRO is a fun image processing apps which turns your photos into tiny little planets that will amaze everyone
In free trial version of application you can't share, but you can save your planets to your camera roll and you can share form there! All other features are available for free, but if you have spare money I suggest you to buy it since this developer has earned every single euro!
This application is available in marketplace since 5/29/2013, but only like week ago people started to use it big time!
Today I will share my own tiny planets and I will try to explain how it works!
Lets start!
In first example I used panorama taken with Nokia 808 PureView
As you can see there is a road on left side so it's not the best example as you will see next!
Not the best idea to use photo whit a road on one side!
This is pretty funny :) but let's be honest - it's funny, nothing else!
Now let's get to the real bad ass planets and I will try to explain why I think they are so good!
I will use this photo taken with Nokia 808 some time ago!
Whats great about this:
Clean
Big clouds
Photo is dominated by 2 colors (blue & green)
One object that will stand out
Horizon is in the middle of photo
As you can see, it's perfect in my opinion!
Very important thing - horizon is in the middle of photo as this part gets less modified, so all objects in middle will be as they are in real life!
Bottom part of photo g
ets compressed and top of source photo gets stretched!
Next example is even better for tiny planets!
Ok, it doesn't have so great colors, but do you see sidewalk at the bottom of this photo? It will be very useful for our tiny planet as all planets have core in center!
Not always you need to use landscape photos to make tiny planets, you can get very creative by using sidewalk bricks for example!
Ok, it doesn't look like planet at all, but it's cool anyway :)
Tiny planets are friendly to share on Instagram since they are square images, but I suggest you to share them on Flickr because they are bigger in size and you can't share 2048 x 2048 px on Instagram as I am aware of, so it will get resized!
Thats all for today! Hope you found this article very useful and will share it with your friends via social networks. ;)
